New type of bio composite resin based carbon fiber reinforced sandwich panel door leaf

2025 01/10

British TRB Lightweight Structure Co., Ltd. has developed a new type of biological composite resin based carbon fiber reinforced (CFRP) sandwich panel door leaf, which uses 100% recycled foam core.

TRB company can provide a sustainable, green composite material option for the railway industry, which is comparable in cost to aluminum alloy doors and windows, achieving a weight reduction of 35%. This is achieved through TRB's internal understanding of composite material technology and expertise in railway applications, currently expanding its product offerings to established railway industry customers to meet the growing global market demand for more environmentally friendly and energy-efficient products.

TRB's design and engineering team worked closely with resin partners to develop a new type of carbon fiber specific prepreg resin with biocompatibility. The key standard is that the new product system must have a high degree of sustainability and enable it to economically and efficiently produce lighter composite components to meet even the most stringent fire, smoke, and toxic smoke (FST) specification requirements in underground railway applications. This new non-toxic and non volatile organic solvent "bio" prepreg is based on a polyfurfurfuryl alcohol (PFA) resin derived from renewable alcohol and produced from natural waste byproducts from refined sugar production.
